Metro 38 Datum stadtschwarz

Metro is the NOMOS success story of recent months: No other watch has won so many awards in such a short space of time, nor sold out so quickly. With this version—a touch larger and more masculine in a 38-millimeter diameter, and featuring a ruthenium-plated dial—NOMOS Glashütte is fulfilling the wishes of many customers for more Metro. As in its sister model, an in-house caliber equipped with the NOMOS swing system is also at work in this Metro, although it does not feature a power reserve indicator. This gives the watch an even more pared down appearance.

Many are dreaming of this watch lately: Metro has already won nearly all the major design prizes—from the Good Design Award to red dot, iF, and German Design Award. Created by the renowned Berlin-based designer Mark Braun, this timepiece is refined and slender, and was the first to feature the NOMOS swing system. The designer explains this timepiece’s appeal—and what makes each Metro model so special—in this short film. Mark Braun is not the only one who reckons that “Metro has really proven itself as a watch.”
