The NOMOS manufactory

Manufactory—one word that combines two Latin terms: manus = hand, factura = to make, to produce. In the watch industry, producers are designated as “manufactories” if they design their own movements and produce a significant part of the caliber themselves rather than buying these components from a third party. NOMOS is one of only a few watchmakers with the designation of manufactory.

At NOMOS, we are first and foremost dedicated to the traditional craft of watchmaking, which we supplement with high-tech methods only in the interest of precision. Lasers and CNC machines play no small role in ensuring that NOMOS calibers function with such extreme precision.

How time is made

Plates, bridges, milling wheels, bluing screws, regulating calibers in the best way possible: NOMOS-watches are beautiful—and the result of a lot of complicated handicraft.

NOMOS does research

The Glashütte train station has a signal tower: NOMOS acquired this tower-like building in order to create new spaces for the research department, which is continually growing.
